NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the San Juan County Council will conduct an EARLY START Special Meeting in the Legislative Hearing Room, 55 Second Street, Friday Harbor, Washington on Tuesday March 16, beginning at 9:15 a.m.

The agenda and related materials may be obtained 24 hours a day at the County website at www.sanjuanco.com/council/default.aspx or at the Council offices during each business day between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. For more information please contact the Clerk of the County Council at (360) 370—7470.

Dance Happy offers ongoing Line Dance classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Classes at Noon and 5:15pm. Join anytime. You don't need a partner and we line dance to all genres of music: disco, latin, salsa, swing, country, oldies, soul, and lots more! A fun and easy exercise program.

Cost is $$8 per class or $$7 if you do 2 or more classes per week. You pre—register for a 4 week series.

Friday Harbor Baseball & Softball Opens 2010 Registration
 

On—line registration is now open for all boys and girls ages 5—14 who want to
participate in T—ball, softball or baseball through Friday Harbor Baseball &
Softball Association (FHBSA). Tryouts & skills assessments will be held March
20th. The season will open after Spring Break. This year, FHBSA is excited to
begin an inter—island schedule with teams from Orcas and Lopez and to offer a
pre—season clinic with Fletcher Vynne on March 16—17th.

Those who register by March 13th (March 20th for T—ball) will save $$10—15 on each
registration. Family discounts and full or partial scholarships are also
available. To encourage early, on—line registration, a 'Pay Later' option has been
added for those who do not have the full funds or who do not like paying by credit
card.

Registration forms are available on—line and at the elementary school but will
only be accepted in person March 3, 4 from 3—5p.m. at the Elementary School
Commons, March 16, 17 from 3—5p.m. at Hall Gym and March 20th at the Elementary School field during tryouts. There is no mail—in option this year.

Island Rec contracts with San Juan Island Fitness to provide swim lessons for Island children.  Lessons begin with four year olds in the small pool advancing through refinement of swimming strokes with older swimmers.  For infants and tot there is opportunity for parent led swim play times.  In addition to the fee you pay, Island Rec pays an additional $$25 fee per child to SJIF.

A comprehensive boating course for all types of boats. The course runs for 6 consecutive weeks and covers: Boat Handling, Docking, Required Safety Equipment, Knots, Navigation Aids, State and Federal Regulations, Marine Weather, Medical Emergencies, Charting on both paper and electronic charts and much more.

Materials include a complete Manual and two companion CD's with Maptech electronic charts of the U.S. The materials cost is $$40.00 and can be shared by a couple. Local students receive a 50% discount.

Completion qualifies for the WA State Boater Education Card, Marine Insurance discounts and ability to join the F.H. Power Squadron to take advanced classes.
